A coily new Angel Trumpet seedling

Check out the wild and crazy look of this new Angel Trumpet seedling.  It is from a cross I made between Brugmansia Joli x Pink Charm.

jolixpinkcharm2.jpgI'm not exactly sure where it got the spiraling corolla teeth from because neither parent has curly corolla teeth. I'll have to check out the Brugmansia family tree on ibrugs.com to see where they came from.

jolixpinkcharm2-2.jpgThis seedling has bloomed several times over the past 6 months and so far the coiling corolla teeth have been present in all the blooms.  That is great news because it means it will most likely be a consistent trait of the blooms on this seedling.

jolixpinkcharm2-3.jpgIn addition to the curly corolla teeth, the blooms on this seedling have other great qualities that merit it being placed in my keeper zone. In the short term I plan to use this seedling in my hybridizing program. I have a couple of yellow/orange seedlings that also have crazy corolla teeth that I would like to cross with this one.  By late summer I'll decide if this seedling is worthy of naming and registering.
