Sommer Gardens / Monday, February 13, 2012 / Categories: Seedlings A delicious new color emerges in my Angel Trumpet jungle. When I first spotted this Angel Trumpet seedling in bloom, I was totally surprised by the color. It displayed a unique color I had not encountered with my Brugmansia seedlings before. Unfortunately it is missing a tag so I have no idea what cross this is from. The color starts out a nice salmon pink, but then slowly matures to a color I would describe as a dark papaya or mango like. You really have to see it in real life to appreciate how beautiful the color is. No other brugmansia I know of has a bloom color like this seedling. The blooms are large, thick in texture and long lasting. Even if the bloom color was one of the more common pinks found in brugmansia, this seedling would still be worthy of watching. The unique color just makes it even more special. These pictures show off the final bloom color, but you really need to see the blooms in real life to appreciate how unique and beautiful this color is. I'll be waiting anxiously to see what the color does during our warm summer weather. Many Brugmansia bloms tend to display different colors in the cooler weather versus the color displayed when the weather is warm. Meanwhile I hope to be able to get a few seed crosses to take prior tot he arrival of our warm nights and the end of our hybridizing season. There's gold in the hills of Clermont...
