A promising new brugmansia seedling with mutant foliage

Last season I ramped up my brugmansia hybridizing efforts using brugmansias with mutant and deeply serrated foliage.  The results of those efforts are coming to fruition and now many of the new seedlings are starting to bloom. Here's one that is showing great promise!

Just what I need on my already overflowing plate, another garden vice! I'm totally swamped with my brugmansia hybridizing program  yet I still decided to start hybriding another class of plants. Go figure...but when you love plants it is hard to say no.  :)

The craziness starts all over again...

In early February I started sowing seeds from some of my 2011 Brugmansia crosses.  I had no idea how many unique crosses I had until started creating the community pots.  Each one of the pots below represent a unique cross.  I wish I could share how many brugmansia crosses are sprouting above, but I plan to create a contest around that on iBrugs.com next week.  I can tell you that when you combine that number with the additional crosses I have planted since these pictures were taken, the ...

A busy bee attempts some summer hybridizing

Now that our summer heat has settled in I have completely given up on attempting to make any new Brugmansia crosses until fall.  Meanwhile this busy bee has arrived for a quick drink and perhaps an inadvertent attempt to pollinate this bloom.I'm sure the nectar from this bloom is quite refreshing on this hot summer day. Now its time for Seedapalooza

Now that Podapalooza is winding down its time for Seedapalooza!  My back is already aching just thinking about the future work these little seeds will create.
