A double dose of magic in this Angel Trumpet seedling

'Zauber' is a German word for magic and this new Angel Trumpet seedling is certainly magical.  The cross is Brugmansia 'Sommerzauber' x 'Herbstzauber'.

'sommerzauberxherbstzauber.jpgIt is easy to see the resemblance to Brugmansia 'Sommerzauber' in the beautifully formed blooms. The father, Brugmansia 'Herbstzauber' no doubt contributed to the enhanced color.

sommerzauberxherbstzauber-2.jpgThe seedling is a vigorous grower with dark green foliage.  These are the first blooms on this seedling and it looks like there will be a total of six blooms open by mid-week.  That's not bad for a first time bloomer.

The seedling is at least seven feet tall so I may chop it up and root the cuttings once it is done blooming.

sommerzauberxherbstzauber-3.jpgThis seedling has easily earned a spot in my watch zone for the winter.
