This Angel Trumpet is a sibling to the Brugmansia Jazzy x Naughty Nick seedling pictured in my previous post and was in bloom at the same time. As you can see, this Angel Trumpet has a very strong resemblance to its mother, Brugmansia Jazzy. It has Jazzy's form and Naughty Nick's color. I plan to cross this one back to Naughty Nick next month to see what the outcome will be. Categories:Brugmansia Tags:Angel TrumpetbrugBrugmansiabrugsjazzynaughty nick Read more

The cross is between Brugmansia Naughty Nick and Cleopatra. The blooms are petite, averaging 2-3 inches across, and are always perfectly formed. They also hold up extremely well in the heat. The summer blooms have stayed a creamy white. In the cooler fall weather they aged with a light apricot color. Here's a link to my blog post last fall when I first introduced this seedling - Teeny Weeny ... I wanted to wait until the second bud opened to make certain this seedling was going to continue to produce miniature blooms, and it has! I'm totally psyched! This seedling is going to perform an important role in my future breeding program. Here is a bloom from Naughty Nick x Cleopatra fully open:As you can see, the blooms are triples and there is even a tinge of color in them. I do not ... It is from an Angel Trumpet cross involving Brugmansia Naughty Nick x Cleopatra. Of course with this being the first bloom on this seedling, you never know if it is just an anomaly or if this is going to be the norm for blooms on this plant. I'm sure this bloom is going to be a triple. I plan to slice it open tonight and check for pollen and perhaps cross it back to another brug seedling with miniature ... Today's featured Angel Trumpet seedling has such a full bloom it almost looks as if the flower is a rose, or other full bodied flower like a mum or carnation. This beautiful bloom was produced by an Angel Trumpet seedling from a cross between brugmansia Naughty Nick x Cleopatra.Based on the parentage, this seedling has a double dose of color genes in it. How cool would it be to have a future cross generate a yellow or orange bloom like the one above?! When I sliced the bloom open I found ... This is the second seedling from this cross to bloom for me this summer. I featured the first seedling in late September and if you compare the two sets of blooms, they are look similar. The main difference between the two seedlings is that this one has more of a caramel color and the other seedling had salmon colored blooms. There are a bunch more seedlings from this cross to bloom and I'm ... You would think crossing two oranges together you would end up with orange kids. That's not the way it works though in the world of brugs. The nicely formed blooms on this seedling start out a light pink and then turn salmon.I remember Naughty Nick being a cross between Creamsickle and Rosamond, and Rosamond has Rothkirch as it's mother.
