Here's one that just came back into bloom. As you can see in the photo, this Angel Trumpet bloom is jumbo sized with great form. Like most Brugmansia Angel's Exotic crosses in my collection, the pink color deepens as the blooms age.I like the wide-body look of the blooms, A wide corolla tube helps keep the flower skirts from becoming stuffed inside. Stuffed corolla skirts tend ... Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetAngels ExoticbrugBrugmansiaButterflyhybridingseedling Read more
Monday, March 12, 2012 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 9140 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating This wasn't meant to be a butterfly conservatory My new shade house is not only providing a more controlled place for my Angel Trumpets to grow and thrive, it is also serving as a butterfly conservatory. This was not planned by any means, butterflies are an enemy of mine. While they are nice to look at, butterflies create and evolve from caterpillars, the most destructive pest I have in my Angel Trumpet jungle. I'm hoping that caterpillars will not be as big of a problem for me this year seeing how most of my Angel Trumpet plants are now ... This cross of Brugmansia Butterfly x Angels Exotic has produced quite a diverse set of seedlings. With 8-10 additional seedlings expected to bloom for the first time this fall, I'm certain the diversity will continue. Friday, May 13, 2011 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 8462 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating This Angel Trumpet is a keeper for sure! Here's one of my favorite double pink Angel Trumpets I have growing in my watch zone. It is from a cross between Brugmansia Butterfly x (Terri Shiavo x Earth Angel). I have been watching this Angel Trumpet seedling perform for over two years and now it is time to set if free. Once i dream up a suitable name for it I plan to officially register and release it.The blooms are large and full and hold up extremely well here in the Florida heat. Like many pink brugmansia, the color deepens ... Categories:Seedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetBrugmansiabrugsButterflyEarth AngelTerri Shiavo Read more

Here's another seedling from that cross that made it into my watch zone. This Angel Trumpet seedling has a strong resemblance to its father, Angels Exotic. The one thing that stands out if you compare the two is the white inside this seedling's inner corolla tube. The ruffled corolla skirt and crazy corolla teeth add to the unique look of this seedling. The blooms are large in size and ... Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetAngels ExoticBrugmansiabrugsButterfly Read more
Sunday, April 10, 2011 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 9775 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating I guess you could call this Angel Trumpet an exotic butterfly So far this Angel Trumpet cross involving Brugmansia Butterfly x Angels Exotic has yielded some interesting results. Here's a recent bloomer that I placed into my watch zone. This one I have labeled as seedling #7.The blooms are large and the corolla skirts compact. Because this was the first bloom on this seedling, it will be interesting to see what the next blooms are like. Quite often it takes several bloom cycles for a seedling's blooms to evolve into their final form. The color was a ... Friday, March 4, 2011 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 8033 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating Brugmansia Butterfly x Joli has great form Here's a rather formal looking bloom from a Brugmansia Butterfly x Joli cross. The blooms are medium in size and thick textured. As these Angel Trumpet blooms matured the corolla tube colored up nicely. While I was examining the bloom closer the texture and color reminded me of Rosalie. I'm certain the double genes came from the father as Joli often throws double blooms. I have several other Brugmansia Butterfly x Joli seedlings that have recently bloomed so I crossed this one back to one ...
