I have been trialing this Angel Trumpet seedling for three years now and I have decided it is time to make it a keeper.  The cross is Brugmansia Mountain Treasure x American Pride.  The blooms have great form, maintain their rich yellow color, and hold up well in our Florida heat. Last night I was greeted with this pair of Angel Trumpet blooms from a Brugmansia Mountain Treasure x American Pride seedling.  They caught me by surprise because right before sundown I was in the same area doing some pollinating and never saw them.  I went back out after dark to finish up my pollinating and was pleasantly surprised at my find.When you have so many plants growing close together it is real easy to miss blooms in the daylight,  At night, with the help of a strong LED headlamp, ...

This Angel Trumpet trumpet seedling stands out from its neighbors because of it wiry looking tendrils.  The cross is Brugmansia Mountain Treasure x American Pride.The blooms have maintained a golden creamy yellow color and because they have a thick texture, last long.  The blooms also have a light fragrance.  I think I'll carry this one forward into 2011 to see how it develops. I'm also curious to see if the color deepens as the weather cools.

It looks like I have another single yellow Angel Trumpet to add to my watch zone for 2011. A cross involving Brugmansia Inca Sun x Mountain Treasure produced this nice yellow trumpet.The blooms had a nice form with a waxy texture and pleasant fragrance.  Only time will tell if it inherits its mother's blooming traits.  It will also be interesting to see if the blooms stay yellow as cool weather approaches, or pick-up some orange coloring like Inca Sun.        If it continues to impress me ...

With temperatures hovering close to freezing this morning, I thought I would feature a nice warm yellow Angel Trumpet seedling to brighten up the day.  Today's Brugmansia seedling is from a cross between Axel Rose x Mountain Treasure.As you can see, this beautiful Angel Trumpet seedling starts out as a nice soft yellow and then slowly ages to medium orange. When you combine the color, form, and substance of this bloom, it is easy to see why this one will be carried forward to watch in 2010.

This fall my seedlings have rewarded me with dozens of new golden yellow/orange blooms.  Yesterday I found this bloom on a brugmansia seedling from a cross between Mountain Treasure x Inca Sun.I'll be anxious to see if Inca Sun's blooming qualities are passed on to this seedling.  It has plenty of good qualities that make it worthy of watching for a few more seasons. 

Last year I made a bunch of crosses involving Brugmansia Axel Rose in hopes that its variegation would be passed on either by genes or by a sport on a new seedling.  The last thing I expected was to find a seedling with blooms as bright as these.  Pictured below are blooms from a cross between brugmansia Mountain Treasure and Axel Rose.  The actual color was what I would call a cantaloupe orange and is much more intense than what is shown in this picture.   The blooms are also quite large ...

This Angel Trumpet bloom from the brugmansia cross of Mountain Treasure x (Miss Caylie x Genevieve #7)!   It was the winner of this weekend's best new seedling to bloom in the heat of summer competition.  When I first spotted this bloom Saturday afternoon I expected it to remain white as the five or six seedlings that already bloomed from this cross had.  When I made my rounds on Sunday I was pleasantly surprised to find color.
