A golden surprise in my jungle of Brugmansia

Here is a new Angel Trumpet seedling that has captured my attention this summer.  It is from a cross I made between Brugmansia Bergische Symphony x Marbach.

bergischesymphonyxmarbach-5.jpgIt is with a group of about 400 gallon sized seedlings I potted up this spring. This seedling was super charged and grew much faster than the others in the group, and was was the first of the bunch to bloom.  It is already experiencing its second flush of blooms, while none of the other seedlings are even ready to start setting buds.

bergischesymphonyxmarbach-6.jpgThe blooms are large, yet the plant itself has remained under two feet tall.  The foliage is a dark green and the leaves are quite large in relation to the size of the plant.

bergischesymphonyxmarbach-2.jpgI recently moved this seedling up to a 4 gallon sized pot and I'm curious to see if the plant will start to grow taller or remain short.

bergischesymphonyxmarbach-4.jpgDespite its young age, this brugmansia seedling is already proving to be a winner. It is in my watch zone now and I'll be anxiously waiting to see how it evolves.
