It is unusual in that the bloom is pink, rather than the cream to apricot color normally found on this type of variegated Angel Trumpet. Pink blooms are more commonly found on variegated brugmansia with more of a suave influence like 'Katrine Bonte'.The variegation on this seedling is a cream on green color, and the plant is on the smaller side.Don't expect to see ... Tuesday, July 19, 2011 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 12029 / Comments: / Article rating: 5.0 The queen of variegated Angel Trumpets This past week almost all my blooming size variegated Brugmansia cultivars have bloomed, or are in bud preparing to bloom. One of the more floriferous of the variegated Angel Trumpets is Brugmansia Variegated Apricot Queen. While my main plant is still rather small, about 3 feet above the pot, it must have close to 40 pendulous blooms cascading down from its canopy. As you can see the leaf variegation is lighter than many of the variegated Brugmansia. The leaves of Variegated Apricot Queen ... While the bloom was showing signs from taking a beating from our summer heat and thunderstorms, it still shows the potential beauty of this variegated Angel Trumpet. When Wupperstolz bloomed for the first time a few weeks ago, I was out of town for work so I never was able to see the fully open bloom. Besides the bloom that is open now I hope to see a few more later this week if the buds hold. Blooming to the right of ... Sunday, May 29, 2011 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 8670 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating A variegated surprise amongst my Angel Trumpets I'm always on the lookout for anomalies in my Angel Trumpet seedlings, especially in growth habits and foliage. Last week I spotted this unusual variegation in a Brugmansia Dark Rosetta x Super Pink seedling. This seedling has three stalks and the variegation only appears on one. The variegation pattern is unusual and is similar to that of Brugmansia 'Freckles'. Only time will tell if this variegation pattern will be permanent or if it is just a temporary display triggered by ... Thursday, April 21, 2011 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 15983 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating A variegated Angel Trumpet surprise While out pollinating my Angel Trumpet blooms earlier this week I stumbled across this variegated sport on a brugmansia Fantasma plant. At first I almost did not notice it because this Fantasma plant is growing beside, and is intertwined with, another variegated Angel Trumpet, Brugmansia 'Freckles'.The variegated branch starts out from a "Y", which I find rather strange. As you can see in the photograph below, the lower half of the 'Y' is solid green and the upper part is variegated. The ... Brugmansia 'Grazie' was a new addition to my collection last summer and now it is starting to take off. Although in the photo below, Grazie's foliage appears to have a slight resemblance to Maya, but when you put the two together you will see that Grazie's variegation is actually quite unique.Grazie was introduced by Monika Gottschalk, who discovered is as a variegated offshoot of ... Although I have been growing Miner's Claim for three years, I have yet to see a bloom on one until a few weeks ago. I lost my Miner's Claim in the freeze this past winter so I obtained another one from Logee's. I have only has this plant for two months and it has already rewarded me with a couple of blooms. Here's the first bloom at its peak.Of course I tried pollinating it, but the cross did not take. I was able to grab some nice pollen from this bloom and I have it in the freezer for ...
