Brugmansia Orange Zest x Genevieve

This Brugmansia Orange Zest x Genevieve seedling has been putting on quite a show lately.  The unusual bloom form is unlike any I have seen before.  The inner corolla skirt is at least twice as wide as the outer skirt and it fans out about 8-9" across.  When you factor in the corolla teeth you are looking at a bloom that is nearly a foot wide!I grew out quite a few seedlings from this cross and several have been special enough to make their way into my watch zone.  So far all of them have ...

A Golden Angel Trumpet casts it glow into the night

This recent bloomer from my Angel Trumpet seedlings has a rich golden orange color.  It is from a cross i made between Brugmansia Ludgers Windsong x (Color Point x Double Dark Rosetta) #8.While this seedling is certainly not special enough to register, I plan to use it in a few crosses this winter.  I have had some great results with crosses made with my Color Point x Double Bark Rosetta seedlings.  The Brugmansia (Color Point x Double Dark Rosetta) #8 seedling used for the pollen parent in ...

Brugmansia Angel's Exotic x Inca Sun

I have been watching this new Angel Trumpet seedling bloom throughout the summer and now I need to decide if I should keep it.  It is from a cross I made between Brugmansia Angel's Exotic x Inca Sun.I think I'll at least keep this one through the winter to see what the color does during the cooler weather.  So far it has stayed a cream color, but the cooler weather may bring out a slight apricot hue.Deciding which seedlings to keep is one of the toughest parts of plant hybridizing.  I'll ...

Brugmansia Dorthea x Golden Lady

When two classic Angel Trumpet ladies join forces, you never know what to expect.  Here is the result of a cross made between two of those ladies, Brugmansia Dorthea x Golden Lady. The snow white blooms on this seedling have some of the longest corolla teeth I have spotted in a new seedling.  You can be certain that Dorthea had an influence in the striking corolla teeth found in this seedling's petite, thick textured blooms.    A recent mini-flush of blooms was an eye catcher because of the ...

Brugmansia Naughty Nick meets Cleopatra

This petite Angel Trumpet bloom is from a cross I made between Brugmansia Naughty Nick x Cleopatra. This seedling is one of several from this cross that I carried over into my watch zone last year.  One of those has blooms that look similar to these, however that seedling's blooms pick-up a slight apricot color as they mature.  So far the seedling featured here stays white from start to finish. The blooms on this seedling are full and petite, averaging less than 3 inches across.  The plant is ...

America casts her beauty on another Angel Trumpet

Here is new Angel Trumpet seedling that quickly earned a spot in my watch zone.  It is from a cross involving Brugmansia Bert x America. With the quantity of seedlings I am currently growing out, multi-skirt whites are a fairly common find. A bloom or plant really has to be special to stand out from the others.  This seedling certainly stands out from the others. You can easily tell which parent had the most dominance in this cross.  This seedling has some great traits that were passed on ...

A curly Brugmansia Super Pink x Langenbuscher Garten seedling

If you like curly corolla teeth, then you will like this new Angel Trumpet seedling.  It is from a cross between Brugmansia Super Pink x Langenbuscher Garten.  This seedling has bloomed several times this season and each time the corolla teeth have been as coiled as the ones in these photos.I have had several seedlings from this cross bloom this summer, and so far they have all been single pinks. I featured another one in my blog in July that had giant blooms. The blooms on this seedling ...

A sleek Brugmansia Butterfly x Angels Exotic seedling

Here is a rather dramatic Angel Trumpet bloom from a cross I made between Brugmansia Butterfly x Angels Exotic.I'm growing out a bunch of Angel Trumpet seedlings from this same cross and many are already in my watch zone because of their beauty.  This cross of Brugmansia Butterfly x Angels Exotic has produced quite a diverse set of seedlings.  With 8-10 additional seedlings expected to bloom for the first time this fall, I'm certain the diversity will continue.
