This super-sized bloom is from a cross I made between Brugmansia ('Inca Sun' x 'Lemon Meringue') x 'Herbstzauber'.So far the long corolla teeth have not re-curved so the illusion of flames continues through the bloom cycle. These photos were captured a few weeks ago when the weather was still warm. This seedling is starting a new bloom cycle now and with our cooler nights, the new blooms are ... When you look at the bloom face it has a very strong resemblance to its father, Brugmansia Angels Goldface. This was the first bloom on this seedling so I'll have to wait and see if the resemblance continues. As is often the case with new seedlings with multi-skirted blooms, the bloom form will evolve and change as the seedling matures.I still have at least a dozen more seedlings from ... Thursday, August 23, 2012 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 8485 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating An Angel Trumpet to rival our summer sun My previous post featured a seedling from a cross I made between Brugmansia Angels Goldface x Inca Sun. Here's an Angel Trumpet seedling I'm watching from a reverse of that same cross. This is just one of several seedlings in my watch zone from a cross I made between Brugmansia Inca Sun x Angels Goldface. The bloom color starts out a deep yellow and ages to a rich orange. The blooms are similar in size to those of it's mother, Inca Sun. I like the distinct trumpet shape of the bloom and the ... Thursday, August 16, 2012 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 9175 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating This Brugmansia is a hand full of color Here's one of my Angel Trumpet seedlings that has been a standout this summer. It has been a prolific bloomer with thick textured, petite sized butter yellow blooms. The cross is Brugmansia Angels Goldface x Inca Sun.This is just one of many seedlings I have from this cross, and a reverse cross, Brugmansia 'Inca Sun' x 'Angels Goldface' that I have placed into my watch zone. I still have at least 10 seedlings from those two crosses that have yet to bloom, and I'm certain a few of them will ... The seedling is from a cross I made between Brugmansia 'Rosalie' x 'Inca Sun'.The blooms have a thicker texture like those of the mother, ,Rosalie' and the color is a deeper yellow than its father, 'Inca Sun'. It is a fast grower, frequent bloomer and has remained pest free in my growing environment.I plan to put it into production later this summer and make it available ... Tuesday, February 14, 2012 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 7450 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating Another exotic Brugmansia fathered by Inca Sun Here's another nice Angel Trumpet seedling from the cross I made between Brugmansia Angels Exotic x Inca Sun.As you can see it has a completely different bloom form and color than that of its sibling, Brugmansia (Angels Exotic x Inca Sun) #4, I posted yesterday. So far the blooms on this seedling have remained snow white with separated corolla skirts.I decided to place this one in my watch zone and plan to cross it back to it's double yellow brother the next time it blooms. I'll also be ... Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetAngels ExoticbrugBrugmansiainca sun Read more
Monday, February 13, 2012 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 9104 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating There's gold in the hills of Clermont... I was pleasantly surprised last week to find golden blooms on one of my Brugmansia Angels Exotic x Inca Sun seedlings.I'm growing out a bunch of Angel Trumpet seedlings from this cross and so far most have been white or cream colored. The blooms on this one started out cream, but matured to more of a creamy yellow color. The blooms are also smaller than most brugmansia blooms. I expect this one to be a good bloomer, just like its parents. The fact that it impressed me with a mini-flush of ... Saturday, December 31, 2011 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 8444 / Comments: / Article rating: 3.0 Brugmansia Inca Sun x Angel's Goldface I really like the simple bloom form found in this first time bloom from a cross I made between Brugmansia Inca Sun x Angel's Goldface.I'm hoping that Inca Sun's ever-blooming characteristics have been passed on to this seedling. This new seedling is only two feet tall and is less than 9 months old! That's a very good sign that this cultivar may be on its way to become a bloomaholic. This seedling is tagged number 20 out of about 30 seedlings I'm growing out from this cross. When I made the ...
