Here's one that just came back into bloom. As you can see in the photo, this Angel Trumpet bloom is jumbo sized with great form. Like most Brugmansia Angel's Exotic crosses in my collection, the pink color deepens as the blooms age.I like the wide-body look of the blooms, A wide corolla tube helps keep the flower skirts from becoming stuffed inside. Stuffed corolla skirts tend ... Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetAngels ExoticbrugBrugmansiaButterflyhybridingseedling Read more
Tuesday, February 14, 2012 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 7450 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating Another exotic Brugmansia fathered by Inca Sun Here's another nice Angel Trumpet seedling from the cross I made between Brugmansia Angels Exotic x Inca Sun.As you can see it has a completely different bloom form and color than that of its sibling, Brugmansia (Angels Exotic x Inca Sun) #4, I posted yesterday. So far the blooms on this seedling have remained snow white with separated corolla skirts.I decided to place this one in my watch zone and plan to cross it back to it's double yellow brother the next time it blooms. I'll also be ... Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetAngels ExoticbrugBrugmansiainca sun Read more
Monday, February 13, 2012 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 9105 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating There's gold in the hills of Clermont... I was pleasantly surprised last week to find golden blooms on one of my Brugmansia Angels Exotic x Inca Sun seedlings.I'm growing out a bunch of Angel Trumpet seedlings from this cross and so far most have been white or cream colored. The blooms on this one started out cream, but matured to more of a creamy yellow color. The blooms are also smaller than most brugmansia blooms. I expect this one to be a good bloomer, just like its parents. The fact that it impressed me with a mini-flush of ... Friday, September 23, 2011 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 6147 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating A sleek Brugmansia Butterfly x Angels Exotic seedling Here is a rather dramatic Angel Trumpet bloom from a cross I made between Brugmansia Butterfly x Angels Exotic.I'm growing out a bunch of Angel Trumpet seedlings from this same cross and many are already in my watch zone because of their beauty. This cross of Brugmansia Butterfly x Angels Exotic has produced quite a diverse set of seedlings. With 8-10 additional seedlings expected to bloom for the first time this fall, I'm certain the diversity will continue. Friday, September 23, 2011 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 6907 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating This Brugmansia has a split personality... This Angel Trumpet seedling appears to want to keep it's split corolla format. The bloom is from a Brugmansia Bert a Angel's Exotic seedling. This seedling has had multiple bloom cycles since spring and with each one all the blooms have been split. It would be cool if the bloom fanned out more, but currently they stay closed like the photo above. I'm not sure what I will do with this seedling. Perhaps i will just grow it out as a novelty. Tuesday, May 10, 2011 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 7190 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating Brugmansia Angels Exotic fathers another one to watch My 2009 cross involving Brugmansia 'Butterfly' x 'Angels Exotic' has yielded quite a few watchers so far. Here's another seedling from that cross that made it into my watch zone. This Angel Trumpet seedling has a strong resemblance to its father, Angels Exotic. The one thing that stands out if you compare the two is the white inside this seedling's inner corolla tube. The ruffled corolla skirt and crazy corolla teeth add to the unique look of this seedling. The blooms are large in size and ... Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetAngels ExoticBrugmansiabrugsButterfly Read more
Sunday, April 10, 2011 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 9775 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating I guess you could call this Angel Trumpet an exotic butterfly So far this Angel Trumpet cross involving Brugmansia Butterfly x Angels Exotic has yielded some interesting results. Here's a recent bloomer that I placed into my watch zone. This one I have labeled as seedling #7.The blooms are large and the corolla skirts compact. Because this was the first bloom on this seedling, it will be interesting to see what the next blooms are like. Quite often it takes several bloom cycles for a seedling's blooms to evolve into their final form. The color was a ... Sunday, March 20, 2011 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 8807 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating The exotic shows in this new Angel Trumpet seedling The one Angel Trumpet I use in my breeding program more than any other is Brugmansia 'Inca Sun'. The reason being is that Inca Sun is considered to be ever-blooming, unlike most Angel Trumpets that bloom in flushes every 4-6 weeks. Here's a promising new seedling that just bloomed from a cross I made between Brugmansia Angels Exotic x Inca Sun.I have about 40 seedlings from this cross growing and about half have bloomed. So far three of the seedlings have been placed in my watch zone and ... Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetAngels ExoticBrugmansiabrugsinca sun Read more
