Here's an Angel Trumpet seedling that has been in my watch zone for three years and now I'm ready to make it a keeper.  The seedling is from a cross I made between Brugmansia 'Rosalie' x 'Inca Sun'.The blooms have a thicker texture like those of the mother, ,Rosalie' and the color is a deeper yellow than its father, 'Inca Sun'.  It is a fast grower, frequent bloomer and has remained pest free in my growing environment.I plan to put it into production later this summer and make it available ...

Here's another Angel Trumpet seedling I have been watching for a couple of years and now think it is worthy of keeping.  The cross is Brugmansia Adeline x Rosalie.I like the deep pink color on this one and the fact the color runs all the way up the corolla tube. Brugmansia Rosalie is an Angel Trumpet that tends to display its blooms in a horizontal fashion.  Occasionally it produces blooms that display upwards, as if designed to collect rain. Perhaps the bloom pictured below was designed to gather rain and water during our current dry spell?  :)Rosalie is a great Angel Trumpet for our hot Florida climate.  As with most pinks, the color deepens as the bloom matures.

This year is off to a frigid start as cold air plummets south and puts Florida in a deep freeze.  We have already had two nights of below freezing temperatures and now the forecast shows below freezing temperatures through the weekend.This is how Rosalie looked this morning when I went out to check on my brugs.  I rely on sprinklers to protect a large percentage of my new seedlings.  I started the sprinklers at 1:00am last night and kept them on till 10:00am this morning.  It will most ...

Here's a beautiful new pink Angel Trumpet with classic brugmansia form.  It is from a cross involving brugmansia Rosalie x Rachel.This brugmansia seedling's blooms were long lasting, had great coloration and a pleasant fragrance.  Although there are lots of nice single pinks available in the U.S., there is plenty of room for improvement in disease & pest resistance and heat tolerance. This one is worthy of watching for another season to see if it raises the bar.

Here's an Angel Trumpet seedling that bears a strong resemblance to its father, Rosalie.  Today's featured seedling is a cross between brugmansia Bernstein x Rosalie.  Now if we could just get Bernstein's bright orange color into this bloom, and add Rosalie's hardiness and blooming ability, we would surely have a winner.  This seedling has potential and will be used in further hybridizing.
