It has a similar growth style as its father, 'brugmansia 'Lizzy', but is not as fast a grower as 'Lizzy'. When the blooms are fully mature, like the one above, it is not uncommon to see a tinge of cantaloupe color show through. So ... Sunday, July 15, 2012 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 9522 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating A new Angel Trumpet seedling worthy of watching I was pleasantly surprised to discover this new bloom on one of my Angel Trumpet seedlings from a Brugmansia Joli x Charleston cross. The seeds came from German hybridizer Volker Sanders. One very interesting trait associated with this first set of blooms is that the inner corolla skirt is larger and darker than the outer skirts. I'm growing out at least 25 seedlings from this cross and I have had several bloom prior to this one. Although they were nice, there was nothing super special ... The cross is Brugmansia ('Color Point' x 'Angels Flight') x 'Langenbuscher Garten'.The blooms are large and beautiful in form. One feature that sets these blooms apart from others is the two-tone coloration of the corolla skirt. As you can see in the photo below, the ribs are much darker than the mid section. This is especially noticeable on the outside of the bloom. This ... Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel Trumpetangels flightbrugBrugmansiaColor PointLangenbuscher Garten Read more
Friday, June 1, 2012 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 7068 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating A pastel Angel Trumpet just in time for summer I'm really liking the pastel coloring on the Angel Trumpet blooms pictured below from a cross I made between Brugmansia 'Joli' and 'Pink Charm'.I'm excited about the multicolor look of the blooms as they mature. They first start out a cream color and then during the course of a couple days they turn a salmon pink color. The blooms pictured here opened a day apart and you can see the color transformation taking place. This plant also had a newly opened cream colored bloom on it, but it was ... It is from a cross I made between Brugmansia Orange Sunshine x New Orleans Lady.I like the fact that it has nice separated skirts. The blooms are also thicker in texture which helps them hold up better in our Florida heat. This seedling has gone through several bloom cycles and so far the blooms have remained snow white. I feel this seedling is worthy of watching so I'm going to carry it over into ... Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetbrugBrugmansianew orleans ladyORANGE SUNSHINE Read more

I will be moving it up to a 10 gallon size pot soon and it will be interesting to see if the plant responds and grows taller, or if it will remain compact.Another great trait of this seedling is that the bloom color is ... Thursday, May 3, 2012 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 10874 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating Angel Trumpet Pink Smitty x (Dark Rosetta x Super Pink) Here's a nice double pink Angel Trumpet I've been watching for a couple of years now. It is a seedling from a cross I made between Brugmansia Pink Smitty x (Dark Rosetta x Super Pink). The blooms have great form and substance, and have held up well in our Florida heat. I especially like the long corolla tube and the fact that the corolla skirts are not stuffed. Stuffed blooms struggle here during our hot steamy summers and often end up rotting in the center before they have a chance to ... The cross is Brugmansia Joli x Langenbuscher Garten. In late March I featured another seedling from this same cross. Although the blooms were single, they stood out because they were petite and very thick textured. The blooms on this seedling were not quite as small as those of its sibling, but they still were smaller than average. The blooms start out cream with a tinge of apricot, and then ...
