I was wowed big time last night when I spotted this bloom on a Brugmansia Rosalie x (Pink Smitty x Miss Ellie) #1 seedling. I was making my final rounds last night looking for blooms to pollinate almost missed seeing this one. It was at the top of an 8 foot tall plant partially hidden by its giant leaves. Fortunately my bright headlamp illuminated the bloom face in passing and it ... I had placed this seedling in my watch zone last summer and now it has earned itself keeper status. It is now in my queue of Brugmansia to be named and registered later this year. The blooms are similar in size to those of its mother, Miss Ellie, but with longer corolla teeth and more intense color. The plant is a vigorous ... Here is one I plan to name and register soon. It is a seedling from a cross between Brugmansia Miss Ellie and Day Dreams. These pictures really do not show the beautiful color range of this Angel Trumpet. In real life the ribs on the blooms have more golden orange in them. The mix of soft pastel colors make this seedling stand out from the others. It is a ... This angel trumpet seedling is from a cross of Brumansia 'Cherub' x (Pink Smitty x Miss Ellie) #1.The picture above was taken on day one before it was fully open. As you have most likely guessed, this bloom was sliced open after I shot these photos so it could be pollinated. :) The bloom did open up to a very nice full double. The blooms on this seedling are medium in size and remain the soft pink color ... Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetbrugsBrumansiaCherubmiss elliePINK SMITTYsommer gardens Read more

Here's another promising seedling from that same cross. The blooms are the same soft pink color as the other seedling and are thick in texture. Like its mother, this seedling loves our Florida weather. As you can see this seedling likes to display its blooms in an upward position. This may be a desirable trait for a potted plant but I'm not sure ... Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetBrugmansiabrugsCherubmiss elliePINK SMITTY Read more

I think I'll hang on to this one and incorporate it into my fall breeding program. It looks like a pesky housefly is hanging on to it too! :) Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetBrugmansiabrugsmiss ellie Read more
Thursday, October 8, 2009 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 4939 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating An Angel Trumpet with lots of colors Today's featured new Angel Trumpet bloom is from a cross between brugmansia Miss Ellie and Daydreams. This is the second seedling from this cross to have multicolored blooms. The blooms start out with the light pastel colors of cream, peach, and salmon. As the blooms mature the colors deepen and the blooms still maintain their multicolor look. Last year I had another seedling from this cross bloom with the same coloration, except the blooms were all triples. It was my most watched ... Today's featured white Angel Trumpet is a cross between brugmansia Jazzy x Miss Ellie. Both are single yellows so I was surprised to see a double white as the result. This seedling was a carry over from last fall and it has been blooming on and off all summer. I'm not sure it is worthy of naming and registering, but I do want to cross it back to both it's parents this fall in hopes of getting some color. The blooms are petite with long corolla tubes. The plant is not phased by the heat or ... Categories:Brugmansia Tags:Angel TrumpetBrugmansiajazzymiss ellie Read more
