My evening strolls through my field of Angel Trumpets is starting to get more exciting as more and more Brugmansia seedlings are setting buds and blooming for the first time. During tonight's stroll I captured this picture of a nice double pink bloom I had been watching develop all week. It is from a cross between Brugmansia Shooting Star and America. When I was making this cross I was hoping that Shooting Star's golden color would be carried over to America's beautiful form, but pink ... While preparing today's featured Angel Trumpet seedling, I came across photographs of a sibling from the same brugmansia cross that bloomed in early October. I had prepared the photos to post back then, but forgot to create the post. The cross is brugmansia Shooting Star x Masquerade. Here's a photo I took in October of the first seedling from this cross to bloom. You would not expect to see a pink bloom when you cross Shooting Star, a single orange, to Masquerade, a double/triple ... Sunday, November 8, 2009 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 6980 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating An Angel Trumpet sunrise This Angel Trumpet bloom shines above rest during today's early morning sunrise. It is a seedling from a cross between brugmansia Mon Amour de Mareuil x Shooting Star. The blooms on this seedling are very fragrant and long lasting but so far the color has not intensified past a light apricot color. I recently crossed it back to several deep orange cultivars in hopes of injecting more color into this cross. You would think crossing two oranges together you would end up with orange kids. That's not the way it works though in the world of brugs. The nicely formed blooms on this seedling start out a light pink and then turn salmon.I remember Naughty Nick being a cross between Creamsickle and Rosamond, and Rosamond has Rothkirch as it's mother. Shooting Star has an unknown ... Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetbloomsbrugBrugmansianaughty nickSeedlingsSHOOTING STAR Read more

Today's featured Angel Trumpet seedling is the result of a cross between Brugmansia Mon Amour de Mareuil and Shooting Star. I'm not sure what I think of this one, but I'll watch it for a while to see what it does.A few years ago finding a double pink from one your seedlings was a big deal. Now with the expanded gene pool available in the U.S., it can be a common occurrence. I already have more than 20 new double pinks I am watching and out of that group I only have 2-3 that I feel are ...
