Here's a bloom from an unknown brugmansia seedling grown out from a bunch of unmarked seeds sent to me by German Hybridizer Volker Sanders.. Not knowing what may be in this seedling's gene pool, I have already made several crosses to other blooms on this plant. Check back next year for an update. :) Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetBrugmansiabrugsVolker Read more

On this final day of the year I thought I would feature a rather unusual looking Angel Trumpet bloom. It is from a brugmansia seedling from the cross of Sassy x Tiara. I have had several seedlings from this cross bloom so far this year and each one has had a completely different look. I would not be surprised if the next blooms on this brugmansia seedling have a different look as well. Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel Trumpet Brugmansia Sassy x Tiara Read more

Looking at these two blooms side by side you can see where the Creamsicle part fits in. The newer bloom on the right is cream colored while the older bloom is orange. Combine the two and you have a Creamsicle! Meet today's featured seedling, a cross between brugmansia Rubiline x Creamsicle. The blooms pictured below are about 2 days apart in age. It is from a cross involving brugmansia Rosalie x Rachel. This brugmansia seedling's blooms were long lasting, had great coloration and a pleasant fragrance. Although there are lots of nice single pinks available in the U.S., there is plenty of room for improvement in disease & pest resistance and heat tolerance. This one is worthy of watching for another season to see if it raises the bar. Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetbloomsBrugmansiabrugspinkrachelRosalie Read more

Last week I posted photos of the first seedling from the cross to bloom. You'll notice quite a big difference in blooms between the two. This photo was snapped before the bloom was fully mature. The inner skirt did drop down further the following day. I wanted to cross this one back to its sibling, so right after I took this picture I sliced this bloom ... This floriferous seedling is from the brugmansia cross of Painted Lady x Adeline. The blooms pictured here are cool weather blooms, which often tend to be lighter in color than those produced in warm weather. The blooms have a nice flounce to them and are long lasting. The plant has been a vigorous grower and has remained pest free. I'll watch this one into next summer to see how it performs. Today's featured Angel Trumpet seedling is from a cross between brugmansia Rubirosa x Little Miss Lili. The bloom is thick textured and long lasting with a pleasant fragrance. The coloration deepened the day after I took this picture to a very deep reddish pink. I'm certain that trait was inherited from the father, Little Miss Lili, one of the darkest reddish pink cultivars I have in my collection. This one is still a little rough around the edges so I will continue to watch it ... Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetbloomsBrugmansiabrugslittle miss lilirubirosaSeedlings Read more
