Here's a seedling from a cross I made between Brugmansia Sweetheart x Whiskers that is blooming now.I carried this Angel Trumpet over to my watch zone last year because I liked the looks of its separated skirts and the very thick textured blooms. Thicker textured blooms hold up better in the heat and I like to use those crosses in my hybridizing program to cross back to cultivars whose blooms need some ... At first I was on the fence about registering it, but ... Categories:New Introductions Tags:Angel TrumpetbrugBrugmansianew introductionPink Cadillacsommer gardens Read more
Saturday, December 31, 2011 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 9480 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating Look at the physique on this lady! Here is a new Angel Trumpet with a rather shapely bloom. It is a seedling from a cross I made between Brugmansia Joli and Angel's Exotic. The blooms are large and the color deepens as the bloom matures. I do not believe I have seen a bloom with a shape like this before. This bloom cycle only had three blooms, but I can only imagine how striking a larger plant with a giant flush would be.This one is certainly worth watching during 2012. Saturday, December 31, 2011 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 8496 / Comments: / Article rating: 3.0 Brugmansia Inca Sun x Angel's Goldface I really like the simple bloom form found in this first time bloom from a cross I made between Brugmansia Inca Sun x Angel's Goldface.I'm hoping that Inca Sun's ever-blooming characteristics have been passed on to this seedling. This new seedling is only two feet tall and is less than 9 months old! That's a very good sign that this cultivar may be on its way to become a bloomaholic. This seedling is tagged number 20 out of about 30 seedlings I'm growing out from this cross. When I made the ... It is seedling #15 from a cross I made between Brugmansia Cassies Curls and (Ludger's Windsong x Creamsicle). All three blooms that opened at the same time all had the workings of a second corolla skirt stuffed up inside the bloom. This means the next set of blooms could actually turn-out to be doubles! Then again, they could easily just look the same as the first set of blooms. The medium size blooms are ... Monday, December 19, 2011 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 9076 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating Part Angel Trumpet, part octopus...just kidding of course. This striking new Angel Trumpet seedling has flailing corolla teeth that resemble an octopus or spider. The cross is one I made between Brugmansia Bert and Angel's Exotic. As the bloom matured the color deepened even more than what is shown in these pictures. I know where the wild corolla teeth came from, its father, Angel's Exotic. I sure whish my sense of smell was better because I would love to know if this bloom was fragrant or not.I decided to keep this one in my watch zone for 2012. Another golden orange Angel Trumpet seedling I decided to place in my watch zone was this nice one resulting from a cross I made between Brugmansia Cherub and Orange Parfait.Cherub is one of the most durable brugs available so I made numerous crosses with it in hopes of passing on its genes for pest resistance and quality growth characteristics. It also performs well in containers, another trait I'm hoping its genes pass on. Orange Parfait is a recent Sommer Gardens introduction that is ...
