Looks like I have another nice double orange Angel Trumpet seedling to place in my watch zone. This seedling is from a cross I made between Brugmansia 'New Orleans Lady' x 'Bert'.The plant is healthy and a robust grower and the blooms fairly large. I took these photos last week when the weather was still summer-like, and as you can see, the blooms held up well in the heat. Here's another Angel Trumpet seedling I have been watching for a couple of years and now must decide if should be a keeper. It is from a cross I made between Brugmansia 'Bert' x 'Naughty Nick'.It definitely has its father's growth genes and It is pushing up the top of my shadehouse, which is about 9 feet high in that location.  The blooms are mostly all triples and are slightly larger than those of 'Naughty Nick'.  The corolla skirts are often extended, much like those of Brugmansia 'Angels ...

This striking new Angel Trumpet seedling has flailing corolla teeth that resemble an octopus or spider.  The cross is one I made between Brugmansia Bert and Angel's Exotic.As the bloom matured the color deepened even more than what is shown in these pictures.  I know where the wild corolla teeth came from, its father, Angel's Exotic.  I sure whish my sense of smell was better because I would love to know if this bloom was fragrant or not.I decided to keep this one in my watch zone for 2012.

In my early days of hybridizing Angel Trumpets I made numerous crosses with Brugmansia Bert. Here is new Angel Trumpet seedling that quickly earned a spot in my watch zone.  It is from a cross involving Brugmansia Bert x America.With the quantity of seedlings I am currently growing out, multi-skirt whites are a fairly common find. This Angel Trumpet seedling appears to want to keep it's split corolla format.  The bloom is from a Brugmansia Bert a Angel's Exotic seedling.This seedling has had multiple bloom cycles since spring and with each one all the blooms have been split.  It would be cool if the bloom fanned out more, but currently they stay closed like the photo above.  I'm not sure what I will do with this seedling.  Perhaps i will just grow it out as a novelty.
