Amber Rose is the result of a cross between Brugmansia L'amour and Charles Grimaldi. This Angel Trumpet is what I would call an "over achiever". I think it bloomed more than any brug in my collection last summer, including Inca Sun!The blooms start out a nice yellow and then turns a golden orange. Like many orange/yellow Angel Trumpets, the color deepens in the cooler ... Categories:Brugmansia Tags:Amber GlowAngel TrumpetBrugmansiabrugsCharles GrimaldiL'amour Read more

Another great surprise and certainly a nice way to end the year was spotting these Angel Trumpet blooms on a seedling from Brugmansia Hawaiian Double White x (L'Amour x Day Dreams). This seedling was carried over from 2009 and finally came back in bloom after a near death experience in last year's freeze. The calyx is normally not dry and crispy as shown in the photo, that is just the effect from our most recent freeze. These blooms have a very strong resemblance to Brugmansia Day Dreams. ... This one did not have a tag, but I am fairly certain it is Painted Lady. The blooms just opened tonight and are a very pale pink. If it is Painted Lady, the blooms will be much darker by tomorrow. Here's one I plan to release to the public next spring. It is a cross between Brugmansia Adeline and Miss Emily Meckenzie. The blooms are super sized and the plant almost always has ... Today's featured Angel Trumpet is a seedling that was carried over from my 2008 watch zone. It is from a brugmansia seedling from a cross between (Hawaiian Double White x L'amour) x Day Dreams. This brugmansia seedling has turned out to be a real beauty. It had a major setback in last winter's freeze and had to rebound from ground level. It is just now getting large enough for me to grab a few cuttings and try and root them. If it propagates well and remains true to itself it may be well on ... Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetBrugmansiabrugsDay Dreamshawaiian double whiteL'amour Read more

This is the first seedling to bloom from a cross I made last fall between brugmansia (Rosamond x L'amour) x Inca Sun. The photos do not do justice to the intense orange color found in these blooms. The blooms were waxy in appearance and very fragrant, which is an added bonus.Finding so many great new orange blooming seedlings this fall, I'm going to have a tough time creating a short list of ones to watch in 2010. Many look almost identical to Charles Grimaldi, however this one stood out because of its smooth lines. I'm already watching a couple of earlier seedlings from this cross, and now this one will join it's siblings in my watch zone to see how it performs in the long run.
