A flouncy Angel Trumpet surprise

This rather striking bloom caught me by surprise early this morning.  It is from a cross I made involving Brugmansia (Joli x Unknown) x New Orleans Lady. This jumbo sized bloom was unique in shape and quite impressive. The mother, Brugmansia Joli x Unknown is a single white seedling I have been watching for three years now.  It closely resembles a white version of Brugmansia Joli and I am still undecided if I want to register and release it.  New Orleans Lady, the pollen parent, is a nice ...

Brugmansia Butterfly x Joli has great form

Here's a rather formal looking bloom from a Brugmansia Butterfly x Joli cross. The blooms are medium in size and thick textured. As these Angel Trumpet blooms matured the corolla tube colored up nicely.  While I was examining the bloom closer the texture and color reminded me of Rosalie.  I'm certain the double genes came from the father as Joli often throws double blooms. I have several other Brugmansia Butterfly x Joli seedlings that have recently bloomed so I crossed this one back to one ...

A mixed marriage involving two Angel Trumpet legends

Today's featured Angel Trumpet blooms are the outcome of the mixed marriage of the America brugmansia Butterfly, and the German brugmansia Joli.  Butterfly is a classic American hybrid and Joli is a European one. When you look at the results you can see quality traits from both parents in the blooms.  So far all the blooms have been resilient, six pointers, with a nice fragrance.  The blooms have lasted nearly a week and what was surprising was that the tendrils held up equally as well.  ...
