Today's featured Angel Trumpet seedling is from a cross between brugmansia Rubirosa x Little Miss Lili. The bloom is thick textured and long lasting with a pleasant fragrance. The coloration deepened the day after I took this picture to a very deep reddish pink. I'm certain that trait was inherited from the father, Little Miss Lili, one of the darkest reddish pink cultivars I have in my collection. This one is still a little rough around the edges so I will continue to watch it ... Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetbloomsBrugmansiabrugslittle miss lilirubirosaSeedlings Read more

The blooms are large with a nice form and color. This seedling is quite different from a previous seedling from brugmansia Goldfinch x Rubirosa that I commented on in August. That seedling had petite, single white blooms. I still have a couple more seedlings from this cross yet to bloom. It would be great if one combined Goldfinch's color with the style of the bloom pictured above. You ... Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetBrugmansiabrugsgoldfinchrubirosa Read more

It is from a cross of brugmansia Rubirosa x (Peanut x Mountain Magic). It has allot going for it thanks to its great parentage. It is a monster seedling, requiring me to use a step ladder in order to snap this picture. I've already had a couple other seedlings from this cross bloom with a similar look and I'm watching them all. I'm certain at least one of them will be worthy of ... Today's featured Angel Trumpet seedling is a real beauty! It is the result of a cross between brugmansia Taylor Dawn x Rubirosa. The blooms have a strong resemblance to its momma, Taylor Dawn, and are similar in size. This one will be carried over into 2010 and will most likely be part of several back crosses this winter. It is a seedling from a cross of brugmansia Rubirosa x Dorthea. Although it is reaching up as if to collect the evening mist, I expect the future blooms to be more nodding. This bloom just happened to be resting on a leaf causing it to point upwards. I like the color and form found in this bloom and I plan to cross it back to both Rothkirch and Rubirosa soon. With great parents like those you would expect this seedling to be a winner, and it is! I have another seedling from this cross that has bloomed and the blooms are even nicer. This one will get moved up to a larger pot and placed in my watch zone to see how it performs in the long run. I also plan to cross it back to Rubirosa when the next set of blooms open. The color did not get any darker than what is pictured, but it did spread up the corolla tube. Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetbloomsBrugmansiabrugsdorthearubirosaSeedlings Read more

This Angel Trumpet seedling has to be the most promising one I'm growing this summer. It is from a cross between brugmansia Rubirosa x The Chief. It bloomed for the first time last fall and has been putting on a non-stop show of blooms. The blooms are always triples, they love the heat, and they have a great fragrance.Of the more than 50 seedlings I've had bloom from crosses involving "The Chief", this one is by far the best. A special thanks to Liz Ficthl for making these seeds available ... Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetbloomsBrugmansiabrugschiefrubirosaseedlingSeedlingsthe chief Read more
