A nice Angel Trumpet, but not nice enough to avoid the chopping block.

The blooms on this new Angel Trumpet seedling have great form, but the color is rather drab.  The cross is Brugmansia Rubiline x (Creamsickle x Candida Pink).Although the color appears darker in this night shot, the blooms start out a cream color and turn more of a dull apricot/yellow as they mature. The plant has been a vigorous grower with frequent flushes of blooms. I don't think this one is worthy of registering but it is too showy for me to just toss.  I think I may chop this one up next ...

An Angel Trumpet under a Seminole Moon

Today's featured Angel Trumpet seedling is from a brugmansia cross of Seminole Moon X (Candida Pink x Creamsicle).  As you will see in the photo below, the blooms start out a cream color with long tendrils.Over the next couple of days, the blooms age to a nice soft orange and the tendrils re-curve dramatically. I'm not sure what the future has in store for this one so I may cross it back to a strong double orange brugmansia like Langenbuscher Garten.

An Angel Trumpet that is trying its best to impress me...

Today's new Angel Trumpet seedling is trying its best to impress me with its orange blooms, but it still has a long way to go to become a keeper.  This is a cross between brugmansia Olympic Flame x (Creamsicle x Candida Pink).  The plant has become a monster, towering about 8 feet tall in less than a year.  It is not a shy bloomer, however the blooms do not hold up well in the heat.  This one may be a good candidate for my yard, or maybe even the compost pile.
