An elegant brugmansia seedling earns keeper status

I've been watching this brugmansia seedling perform for several years now and decided it was time to make it a keeper!

This Angel Trumpet is a mess, but I like it anyways...

The blooms on this Angel Trumpet are a total mess, but I still find their overall look attractive.  The cross is Brugmansia Miss B Haven x Seminole Moon. When the buds first start to open it is easy to see that the blooms are going to be shredded.  This seedling started blooming almost two years ago and at first I thought the shredded look may be anomaly.  Numerous times I have had plants throw shredded blooms on and off, mixed with normal looking blooms. This one has maintained the its ...

This Angel Trumpet is a mess, but I like it!

It is not unusual for an Angel Trumpet plant to produce a shredded bloom from time to time but here's a Brugmansia seedling that has thrown two consecutive shredded blooms.  This has me hoping that this seedling will always be shredded. The seedling is a cross of Brugmansia Miss B Haven x Seminole Moon.  Too bad Seminole Moon's color did not carry through.I already have three shredded brugmansia cultivars in my collection; 'Shredded White', 'Shredded Pink', and 'Fantasma'.  The blooms on this ...

An Angel Trumpet under a Seminole Moon

Today's featured Angel Trumpet seedling is from a brugmansia cross of Seminole Moon X (Candida Pink x Creamsicle).  As you will see in the photo below, the blooms start out a cream color with long tendrils.Over the next couple of days, the blooms age to a nice soft orange and the tendrils re-curve dramatically. I'm not sure what the future has in store for this one so I may cross it back to a strong double orange brugmansia like Langenbuscher Garten.

This Angel Trumpet is begging for color...

Today's Angel Trumpet is getting its act together with its form, but it is certainly needs an injection of color.  This seedling is an offspring from a brugmansia cross involving Miss 'B Havin x Seminole Moon.  Several blooms preceded the one pictured, but none have colored up more than this one shows.  We just had some cool weather move in so maybe that will have an influence on the next bloom that is about to open.  After shooting this photo I pollinated this bloom with some pollen from ...

Well at least its not white...

Now that many of my Angel Trumpet seedlings are beginning to bloom, I seem to find a couple new double whites each week. It was great to finally stumble across a double with color last night.  This is the result of a cross between brugmansia Lady Liberty and Seminole Moon.  It had a nice butter yellow color that I am hoping will darken some as time goes on.I will probably watch this one for the rest of the summer and then cross it back to some color this fall.
