Despite our recent cool spell, the blooms remained white through their life span. I plan on carrying this one over to 2012 for sure! Friday, October 15, 2010 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 5925 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating Unkempt is cool with this Angel Trumpet Sometimes when a new Brugmansia seedling blooms, it is love at first sight. That was certainly not the case with this seedling from a 2007 Brenda Delph cross involving Brugmansia Adeline x Miss Caylie. As you can see the blooms have a wrinkled and unkempt look to them. At first I thought this may be something the plant would grow out of as the plant matured. Last fall I actually tagged the plant to be culled when I had time. I have a real hard time tossing plants tagged to be culled so I ... Categories:Seedlings Tags:adelineAngel TrumpetBrugmansiabrugsmiss caylie Read more

Here's an Angel Trumpet that is suited for an enchanted forest. These first blooms from an Angel Trumpet seedling from a cross between brugmansia Adeline x Miss Caylie have a wild and crazy look to them. Remember, you should never judge a new brug seedling by its first set of blooms so we'll anxiously wait for the next bloom cycle to see if it can iron things out., Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:adelineAngel TrumpetBrugmansiabrugsmiss caylie Read more

Actually it is a Sweetheart cross involving brugmansia Sweetheart x (Miss Caylie x Genevieve). The picture below shows a bloom on the first day and by day 2 the green portion of the corolla tube became white. I have several single white seedlings from this cross in bloom right now. They really put on a show when they flush. I'm certain at least one of these will become a keeper by fall. This Angel Trumpet bloom from the brugmansia cross of Mountain Treasure x (Miss Caylie x Genevieve #7)! It was the winner of this weekend's best new seedling to bloom in the heat of summer competition. When I first spotted this bloom Saturday afternoon I expected it to remain white as the five or six seedlings that already bloomed from this cross had. When I made my rounds on Sunday I was pleasantly surprised to find color. I like the curly tendrils and form so this one gets to hang ... Friday, December 28, 2007 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 6785 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating Better with age That's the story with this brugmansia. It is a cross between Miss Caylie and Genevieve and is one of several plants I have growing from this cross. Here's what the flowers looked like when the plant first bloomed in November. It was so ugly it almost ended up in the compost pile. Knowing that the first blooms a seedling produces may not resemble the flowers the plant produces as it matures, I decided to let the plant stay for a couple more rounds of blooms. Over the weekend the second ... Categories:HybridizingBrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Brugmansiabrugsgenevievemiss caylieseedling Read more
