While making my rounds the other night I caught this moth in the process of laying eggs on an Angel Trumpet bloom. Sorry Mr. Moth, that earned you the kiss of death. The fact that you are laying them on a very special double yellow seedling I have in my watch zone means you have no chance for forgiveness. Caterpillars are my number one pest problem during the summer and almost all of the ones I find munching on my plants come from moths.

While out for my evening stroll through my Angel Trumpet forest, I was able to capture this beautiful moth paying a visit to Brugmansia Lady Liberty.I was hoping to get some close-up shots but this fellow skirted off in search of other blooms.  

These moths are gearing up for another feeding frenzy.  Even though we're still experiencing record heat, plenty of open blooms are available for them to feed on.I need to study up on moths so I can ID the ones I encounter. 

Now I see where the military found the design for the stealth bomber...Minus the antlers of course...

The monster moths were out pollinating my angel trumpets at dusk and caught me by surprise.  I'm so used to using auto-focus on my camera so I'm having trouble capturing a good picture of these guys.  I need to remember to switch to manual focus when they are out and up the shutter speed.  I'm not giving up until I get some crisp photos of these workhorses in action!  

This giant moth is like the B52 of the moth world.  Nothing is more unnerving during a late night stroll than to have one of these monsters buzz by your head.  The cool part is that their eyes glow a bright red. I hope to get some better pictures of them in action soon.
