An elegant brugmansia seedling earns keeper status

I've been watching this brugmansia seedling perform for several years now and decided it was time to make it a keeper!

An Angel Trumpet version of Beauty & the Beast

When I'm out snapping photos of my new blooms, often I do not see creatures that may be on or near them until I review the photos later.  While checking out some recent photos I shot of this Brugmansia Rubirosa x Sam seedling I spotted this tiny spider making his rounds.A spider sure beats seeing the pairs of eyes glowing in the background I often see on some of my nighttime photos.

I think I'll name this Angel Trumpet "Green Eggs & Ham"

Just joking of course!  This Angel Trumpet is one of the more unusual ones I have been watching.  The blooms are unlike any I have seen and consistently have green coloration in them.  The cross is Brugmansia Painted Lady x Sam.  Typically the blooms do not stay as green as this one has, but this bloom ended up with very little pink in it.At first I thought environmental conditions were causing the blooms to be green, but after propagating the plants and growing this cultivar in various ...

Still watching my neopolitan Brugmansia seedling

Almost two years ago I posted photos of an Angel Trumpet seedling I was growing that had rather unique pink and green coloration.  The cross was Brugmansia Painted Lady x Sam and I believe the hybridizer was Gary Morales.  Here's a photograph taken back in fall of 2008 that shows the unusual coloration. As the bloom matured it still kept the green in its coloration.  I thought the blooms were quite striking at that time.  After seeing the green continue even after a couple of bloom cycles, I ...

Angel Trumpet Hot Summer flushes (part 2)

Considering this plant is only two feet tall right now, Brugmansia Andrew's Gold still makes an impact. This one did not have a tag, but I am fairly certain it is Painted Lady. The blooms just opened tonight and are a very pale pink.  If it is Painted Lady, the blooms will be much darker by tomorrow.   Here's one I plan to release to the public next spring.  It is a cross between Brugmansia Adeline and Miss Emily Meckenzie.  The blooms are super sized and the plant almost always has ...

Great parents produce another Angel Trumpet to watch

Today's featured Angel Trumpet seedling is from a cross involving brugmansia Rubirosa x Sam.  With great parents like those you would expect this seedling to be a winner, and it is!   I have another seedling from this cross that has bloomed and the blooms are even nicer.  This one will get moved up to a larger pot and placed in my watch zone to see how it performs in the long run.  I also plan to cross it back to Rubirosa when the next set of blooms open.

A nice pink Angel Trumpet seedling with great parents

Here's a nicely colored pink Angel Trumpet that has been blooming in our record heat.  It is from a cross between brugmansia Rubirosa and Sam.  With parentage like that you would expect this seedling to be one to watch.  I'll let this one try and impress me this fall when I decide which of the dozens of single pinks I'm watching make it to the keeper zone.
