It is from a cross I made between Brugmansia Orange Sunshine x New Orleans Lady.I like the fact that it has nice separated skirts. The blooms are also thicker in texture which helps them hold up better in our Florida heat. This seedling has gone through several bloom cycles and so far the blooms have remained snow white. I feel this seedling is worthy of watching so I'm going to carry it over into ... Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetbrugBrugmansianew orleans ladyORANGE SUNSHINE Read more
Tuesday, February 14, 2012 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 9954 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating Wow, from snow white to golden orange in one day Looking at the photo below you would never guess that this Angel Trumpet seedling was snow white for a couple of days before turning gold overnight. The cross is Brugmansia Orange Sunshine x Pink Smitty. Here's what this seedling looked like the previous day, snow white without a hint of color. Reflecting back it was sort of funny because at the time I was examining it and trying to determine if this white brugmansia was worthy of keeping. I carried this seedling over from 2010 but had ... It is from a cross involving Brugmansia Pink Perfektion x Orange Sunshine. The blooms are thick textured and long lasting. I really like their flouncy look too. This seedling has been a frequent bloomer and its snow white blooms are an eye-catcher.It would have been nice if some of Brugmansia Orange Sunshine's color would have carried over to these blooms. Saturday, December 4, 2010 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 8177 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating Orange Sunshine flirts with Pink Smitty I finally was rewarded with some color from my cross of Brugmansia Orange Sunshine x Pink Smitty. This new Angel Trumpet seedling has a striking resemblance to Brugmansia Jazzy. This particular cross was one I decided to grow the entire seed pod out so I could see the diversity in a single cross. Out of the 20 or so seedlings that have already bloomed, most have been white. I have only kept one in my watch zone so far, a double light orange. I think I'll carry this one over as well and ... Tuesday, November 30, 2010 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 7605 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating Brugmansia Pink Perfektion meets Orange Sunshine Here's a new Angel Trumpet seedling that might as well be an orphan because its blooms have nothing in common with the blooms of its parents. It is from a cross involving Brugmansia Pink Perfektion and Orange Sunshine. Its snow white double Angel Trumpet blooms stand out from the dozens of other double white seedlings that bloomed this year because of its thick texture. Thick texture equates to a more durable, longer lasting bloom. That is a very desirable trait to pass along, so ... I'm finally starting to see the results of those crosses and my pool of double yellow/orange seedlings to work with is starting to grow, Within this group I'm hoping a few winners will surface, even if it takes a couple more generations of crosses to achieve this goal. Today's featured seedling is one that may show some potential in future ... Wednesday, December 9, 2009 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 6744 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating The many faces of an Angel Trumpet cross As I have mentioned before, the Angel Trumpet cross between brugmansia Orange Sunshine x Pink Smitty is one where I am growing out an entire seed pod so that I can document the wide variety of blooms a single cross will produce. I can't remember the exact count, but I know I have well over 100 seedlings from this cross growing. So far most of the seedlings that have bloomed from this cross have been single or double whites. None have earned a spot in my keeper zone, but a few are worthy ... Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetbrugBrugmansiabrugsORANGE SUNSHINEPINK SMITTY Read more
