It is from a cross I made between Brugmansia Daydreams and Ludger's Windsong.During its recent flush of blooms it wowed me even more by having the inner corolla skirt turn orange, while the outer remained lemon yellow. The blooms were a real show stopper for sure. I'm super excited about the potential of this seedling, I have several seed pods growing from ... It is from a cross I made between Brugmansia Joli x Pink Charm.I'm not exactly sure where it got the spiraling corolla teeth from because neither parent has curly corolla teeth. I'll have to check out the Brugmansia family tree on ibrugs.com to see where they came from. This seedling has bloomed several times over the past 6 months and so far the coiling corolla teeth have been present in all the blooms. That is great ... Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetbrugBrugmansiajoliPink Charm Read more
Thursday, March 29, 2012 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 7211 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating Brugmansia Joli x Langenbuscher Garten Here is a seedling from the reverse of the Brugmansia Langenbuscher Garten x Joli cross I showcased in my previous post. This time around Brugmansia Joli is the pod parent rather than the pollen donor. This Brugmansia Joli x Langenbuscher Garten seedling has a very simple form and the blooms are very thick in texture. The thick textured blooms and great parentage justify me keeping it around for a few more seasons. The blooms started out cream and picked up a slight apricot color around the ... Wednesday, March 28, 2012 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 7062 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating Brugmansia Langenbuscher Garten x Joli My real job in the event business has kept me very busy the past couple of weeks, so I have not had time to show off some of my newest Angel Trumpet seedlings. I'll start with this new seedling from a cross between Brugmansia Langenbuscher Garten x Joli that is currently in bloom. While the blooms are nice, currently they are really not special enough to convince me this one is going to be keeper. It will be safe for another six months though because I crossed it back to its mother, ... Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetbrugBrugmansiajoliLangenbuscher Garten Read more
Friday, March 16, 2012 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 9495 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating The pod keeper Now that my Brugmansia seed pods are starting to ripen, it is time to enlist some friendly help to keep pests away. This friendly Anole appears to be quite happy on his new resting place. Because Brugmansia seed pods are actually a fruit, they can be impacted by small beetles and tiny larvae while they are ripening. Both are great snacks for these guys! Here's one that just came back into bloom. As you can see in the photo, this Angel Trumpet bloom is jumbo sized with great form. Like most Brugmansia Angel's Exotic crosses in my collection, the pink color deepens as the blooms age.I like the wide-body look of the blooms, A wide corolla tube helps keep the flower skirts from becoming stuffed inside. Stuffed corolla skirts tend ... Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetAngels ExoticbrugBrugmansiaButterflyhybridingseedling Read more
Friday, March 16, 2012 / Author: Sommer Gardens / Number of views: 10007 / Comments: / Article rating: No rating A new Angel Trumpet with great color, form and substance One of the more striking blooms appearing in my watch zone this week was this one on an Angel Trumpet seedling I carried over from last summer. The cross is Brugmansia Cassies Curls x (Ludger's Summer Dream x Creamsicle). The blooms are thick textured with the deep orange color extending all the way up the corolla tube. The bloom form is simple with an inner skirt that is often split. I have several seedlings from this same cross in my watch zone. All have the same rich color, but with ... It is from a cross I made between Brugmansia Herrenhauser Gold and Langenbuscher Garten.Because this was the very first bloom on this seedling, the bloom is sort of a mess. I think it shows great potential and I'm certain the next blooms will be much better. I have at least 20 more seedlings of this same cross yet to bloom, several of which are setting buds now. With such great parentage, I ... Categories:BrugmansiaSeedlings Tags:Angel TrumpetbrugBrugmansiaHERRENHAUSER GOLDLangenbuscher Garten Read more
