Striking gold with this beautiful Angel Trumpet

Here's a nice single yellow Angel Trumpet seedling I carried over from 2010.  It is from a cross involving Brugmansia (Serendipity x Peanut) x Jamies Monkey Business.I carried this one over because the blooms had great form and the soft yellow color carried all the way through the corolla tube.Another plus for this seedling was the fact that the blooms stayed yellow throughout their life cycle.  Often yellow brugmansia cultivars develop orange tones as they mature.  I have so many great ...

This Angel Trumpet is a mess, but I like it!

It is not unusual for an Angel Trumpet plant to produce a shredded bloom from time to time but here's a Brugmansia seedling that has thrown two consecutive shredded blooms.  This has me hoping that this seedling will always be shredded. The seedling is a cross of Brugmansia Miss B Haven x Seminole Moon.  Too bad Seminole Moon's color did not carry through.I already have three shredded brugmansia cultivars in my collection; 'Shredded White', 'Shredded Pink', and 'Fantasma'.  The blooms on this ...

My Angel Trumpets are telling me Spring is on the way!

While I was working in my Brugmansia forest over the weekend I noticed many of the plants are loading up with buds.  While it will be a couple of weeks until most of the new buds mature and open, a few have just started blooming.  Here's a new Angel Trumpet seedling that just bloomed for the first time.  It is from a cross I made between Brugmansia Butterfly x Angel's Exotic. It is a thick textured, wide body bloom with a flare to it.  I'm certain the color will deepen when the warm weather ...

This Angel Trumpet shows what happens when two great ladies join forces

This week I was rewarded with a beautiful Angel Trumpet bloom from a Brenda Delph cross involving Brugmansia Terri Schindler Schiavo x New Orleans Lady. This seedling bloomed for the first time back in Spring of 2008,  I almost lost this Brugmansia seedling for good during one of our previous freezes.  Fortunately it has rebounded, and after taking its time growing this past summer it is finally back in bloom.  I really like its crazy tendrils.I'm hoping it will color up some more as spring ...

Look what Santa brought me!

I guess I must have been a good boy this year because I have a great new bright orange Brugmansia seedling in bloom.  This beautiful Angel Trumpet bloom is from a seedling from a cross of Ludger's Windsong x (Ludger's Summer Dream x Creamsicle). As you can see by the photo below this seedling is a nice triple.  The bright Orange color is consistent throughout the bloom.I'm really looking forward to seeing how this seedling develops. I'm already watching a couple of other seedlings with ...

What a difference a couple of degrees makes...

Anyone who has grown Angel Trumpets for more than a season understands how environmental conditions can have a major influence on a bloom's appearance.  Brugmansia Angel's Golden Dreams is a great example of this.  Here's a photo of what the typical color of AGD blooms look like during our warm growing season. Now that the temps have cooled off during the day and night, the blooms have turned a nice yellow/orange color.  This color deepened even more when the nighttime temperature dropped ...

Look at the curves on this Angel Trumpet

This is one smooth Angel Trumpet bloom.  The cross is Brugmansia Pink Smitty x an unknown pollen parent. The blooms are slightly smaller than an average sized Angel Trumpet bloom and are long lasting with a mild fragrance.  So far the plant has remained below four feet tall.  I carried this Brugmansia seedling over from 2009 and I plan to hold on to it for at least another year.I'll most likely cross it back to its mother this winter just to see if I can create a pillow-like double.

Miss B Haven with Miss Emily Mackenzee

Here's an Angel Trumpet marriage with mixed results. The first photo of this cross between Brugmansia Miss B Haven and Miss Emily Mackenzee is a seedling that looks just like its momma. Actually it is more like a pink version of its mother, Brugmansia Miss B Haven.  Miss B Haven is a multi-skirt white Angel Trumpet introduced by Brenda Delph a few years ago. Here's another seedling from the Brugmansia Miss B Haven x Miss Emily Mackenzee cross. This Angel Trumpet seedling bloomed earlier this ...
